What is Free Wheelchair Mission?
Free Wheelchair Mission gives inexpensive, practical wheelchairs to people who need them in in developing countries around the world,
at no charge to the recipient. 'Ambassadors for Mobility' are champions of the cause that have made a commitment to fundraising for Free Wheelchair Mission! Whether individually or as a group, Ambassadors come from all around the globe, ordinary people rising to the challenge as they invest time and energy to help raise funds for the impoverished disabled.
These wheelchairs are manufactured and distributed into more than 70 countries around the world for a cost of $59.20 per chair.
To date, more than 420,000 wheelchairs have been distributed.
The Southern New Mexico/West Texas Ambassadors for Mobility are a local group of volunteers committed to raising funds and distributing the Free Wheelchair Mission wheelchairs into Mexico.
UPDATE!
On September 29, 2009, our shipment of 550 wheelchairs arrived in Las Cruces. Of these 250 have already been distributed into Juarez, Mexico. We are continuing to develop more distribution plans to Juarez, Chihuahua, Lerdo, and Jalisco. If you want to be involved in distribution, contact us today!

'Ambassadors for Mobility' in Las Cruces have been approved to serve as a Distribution Partner with Free Wheelchair Mission.
We now have the funds available to order a shipping container of 550 wheelchairs and begin our distribution process into Mexico.
We are now raising funds for our second container!

| We are continuing to raise funds for more wheelchairs! We are now working on a second container. In addition to a major event per year, to include our annual Fajita Fiesta, we would like to hold several smaller events each year to continue to promote awareness of our efforts. |
As recipients of wheelchairs are identified by contacts in Mexico, wheelchairs will be assembled in preparation for distribution. Once you learn how to assemble the chair, you will be able to do so in 20-25 minutes. |
We need contacts in Mexico to perform a number of tasks:
(1) identify potential recipients and assist them in completing an application (including photo)
(2) gather local volunteers to assist in distribution in Mexico
(3) assist us in working through border importation issues to ensure that wheelchairs cross into Mexico
(4) transport wheelchairs from the border to the recipients |

(2) Web site maintenance - need one experienced web site designer to maintain this site
